Certified Praesidium Guardian
Keep Your Certification Active.
Before certification expiration, Guardians must meet two requirements to renew their certification for an additional three years: (1) earn 30 Safety Points, and (2) pay a $500 recertification fee*. Safety Points can be accumulated through various activities, at any time and in any sequence, during the three-year period. Upon certification expiration AND the completion of 30 Safety Points, you will be contacted regarding next steps.
Guardians are responsible for tracking earned safety points by following THESE STEPS.
*Note: The $500 recertification fee applies unless otherwise stated in a contractual agreement. There is no recertification fee for YMCA Guardians.

How to Track Safety Points

Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps to log your Safety Points in Praesidium Academy:
- Sign in to Academy
- Click on the " Safety Points" box directly under the welcome message
- Click on “Safety Point Submissions” image
- Select the activity point value (refer to the Recertification Guide if unsure)
- Click on "Start Course" or "Continue"
- Verify the Safety Point value
- Describe what the activity is (optional)
- Submit proof of activity
- Click on "Complete Survey"
- Click on the right arrow - this action is necessary to submit your safety point(s)
- Click on "Next Sections" to see your submission on the leaderboard
- You can also view how many points you have at the completion criteria section of the “Safety Point Submissions” page
Keeping an Eye on Progress
View your Safety Point progress at a glance.
- Access your completion criteria at any time from the “Safety Point Submissions” page in Praesidium Academy.
- The completion criteria will show your total points.
- Once you have achieved 30 safety points, the badge on the homepage will light up.
- Remember, you must acquire 30 Safety Points within your 3-year certification period to achieve recertification.
